Book Summary:

Do we believe that Jesus can heal us and bring us back from the dead? Pope Francis

Healing, in a word, is resurrection. He forgives all your inequities, He heals all your diseases, He redeems your life from the pit, He crowns you with steadfast love and mercy (Ps 103:3-4).

Here retreat master, Ignatian trained spiritual director and author Kathleen Beckman offers a guide for a personal or group healing retreat based on Divine Mercy in Scripture and in the lives of the Saints. Beckman skillfully helps us to see how the rays of divine mercy heal families, marriages, the sick, poor, suffering, friends, enemies, laity, clergy, our vocations, doubters, believers, those with diabolical suffering, sinners, saints, the unborn, the elderly, children, the Church and the whole world.

Each chapter concludes with a profile in mercy ¬ a reflection on a saint who was a vessel of mercy including Blessed Mother Teresa, St. John Paul II, Cardinal Francis-Xavier Nguyen, Venerable Conchita Cabrera, St. Maria Goretti, St. Maximilian Kolbe, St. Gianna Molla, St. Faustina, St. Peter and the Virgin Mary.

5 Stars A Year of Mercy Winner
    on January 30, 2016
I am a HUGE Kathleen Beckman fan. I loved her Prayer for Priests Book - have recommended it to many with a heart for promoting the vocation of priesthood. I knew I'd love her new book for the Year of Mercy but didn't realize HOW much until I got an opportunity to read it! Kathleen covers so much in this well written, easy to read, open your heart to God's love and mercy , tome. Forgiveness, doubt, trust issues, fears - all covered in a very personal and tender way. In this year of Mercy, I can not think of a better way to reflect and journey than with God's Healing Mercy from Sophia Institute Press. Well done -- you will NOT be disappointed. This is also perfect for small group or even a CHURCH - Wide book study to celebrate this Year of Mercy, that Pope Francis has instituted for 2015/16.

5 Stars This book has changed my life.
    on March 30, 2016
This book has changed my life. It is, in essence, a mini-retreat that challenged me to explore areas in my life that needed to be touched by God's healing mercy. The wounds of life inflicted by family members, friends and enemies are addressed by Kathleen as she guides the reader through reflections given by the Saints and the Church to provide comfort, healing and encouragement. The healing that many are seeking after years of spiritual warfare, from powerlessness and from worldliness can be found in this book. Pope Francis mentioned that "Wherever the Church is present, the mercy of the Father must be evident. In our parishes, communities, associations and movements, in a word, where there are Christians, everyone should find an oasis of mercy." This book truly shows the reader how to tap into this oasis of mercy.

4 Stars I really liked the prayers
    on July 15, 2016
I really liked the prayers that were at the end of each chapter. Each prayer selected was from a saint or doctor of the Church. I also liked the personal stories which detailed day-to-day ways to handle mercy and forgiveness. I thought the saint stories were a little too familiar for someone who has done a lot of reading on the saints. I would have liked to see some stories that were not so common.
