The journey follows Bilbo as he ventures out with a host of dwarves on his quest to return their stolen treasure. It is during this journey that readers witness the heroic courage and strength in our unlikely hero, while simultaneously discovering profound Christian meanings throughout The Hobbit. With Joseph Pearce at the helm, readers become aware of how J.R.R Tolkien's classic tale has been molded over time to represent sacrifice, providence, love and grace - all themes deeply rooted in Christianity.
Whether you're a devotee of JRR Tolkien or have grown up listening to tales about Bilbo Baggins’ adventures for many years, take this chance to see beyond Smaug and assume your own mission by getting your copy of Bilbo's Journey: Discovering the Hidden Meaning of The Hobbit today!
Joseph Pearce is an English-born writer, and as of 2014 Director of the Center for Faith and Culture at Aquinas College in Nashville, Tennessee. He is known for a number of literary biographies, many of Catholic figures. Formerly aligned with the National Front, a white nationalist political party, he converted to Roman Catholicism in 1989, repudiated his earlier views, and now writes from a Catholic perspective. He is a co-editor of the St. Austin Review and editor-in-chief of Sapientia Press. He also teaches Shakespearian literature for Homeschool Connections, an online Catholic curriculum provider.
