Hell and Its Torments

really believe will ultimately happen to us. One cannot subjectively read a
single page of Robert works and come away with a lesser intellect or lack of
true psychological, theological, or deep spiritual reckoning of oneself.

While Holy Scripture is the foundation for our livelihoods, St. Robert Bellarmine does his best to reveal to us the dangers of what awaits us if we do not repent. Hell and its Torments is a sermon from the aforementioned saint in which he goes into detail about some aspects of eternal damnation, in order for us to comprehend the gravity of the situation. Whether it is the principal causes of committing sin, or the many parables that relate Hell in a manner we may understand, the two penalties we face if damned, how four "senses" will impact our life in Hell, and the different external sufferings of the body. All the while, he gives short and analogous comparisons that will put what life will REALLY be like in Hell. Truly the comparisons really drive home the point, which is as confessors of Christ we should do our utmost best to try and avoid such a wretched and vile place, lest we partake in it. This little booklet of about 46 pages really lives up to the status of the author (being a Doctor of the Church, i.e. he knows what he's talking about). I highly recommend this booklet to those people who may have heard or believe that Hell is just where the bad people go. In fact, I'm sure that those laymen who struggle with living a faithful and dutiful life, should definitely have this booklet nearby to give them comfort in what they believe in (or horrify them of life without the faith). 5 stars and a must-have for all Catholics.
