A Journey through the Catechism: Unveiling the Truth, Beauty, and Goodness of the Catholic Faith is an award-winning and timely resource for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of Catholicism. Recognized as the number-one faith formation book by the Catholic Media Association, it serves as an essential guide for catechumens, catechists, and lifelong learners of the faith.

Across dioceses, parishes, and campuses, an increasing number of adults are entering the Church through the OCIA process, drawn by a longing for meaning, stability, and spiritual fulfillment. This book answers that hunger with a clear, compassionate exploration of what the Church believes and teaches.

Building on Michael Pennock’s bestselling This Is Our Faith: A Catholic Catechism for Adults, this new companion to the Catechism of the Catholic Church continues the approachable question-and-answer format while adding the pastoral voice of Fr. Daniel J. Mahan, director of the USCCB’s Institute on the Catechism.

With clarity and warmth, Fr. Mahan addresses questions about God, the Church, and the moral life, helping readers not only understand the truths of the faith but also live them. Organized around the four pillars of the Catechism—creed, sacraments, Christian life, and prayer—the book helps Catholics:

  • Profess their faith with confidence

  • Worship meaningfully in the liturgy

  • Live morally and justly in everyday life

  • Develop a rich and consistent prayer life

“You were born for much more than you can imagine. You are meant for God,” writes Fr. Mahan. “By picking up this book, you have taken the first step to discover or deepen your connection to God and to delve more deeply into the great mystery of your relationship with Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church.”

Designed to provide a complete learning experience, the book includes:

  • Accompanying videos featuring Fr. Mahan

  • Visual aids such as tables, photo essays, and graphic organizers

  • A free online Lectionary guide linking each topic to Sunday Mass readings across all liturgical cycles

Perfect for OCIA participants, parish faith formation, homilists, and individual seekers, A Journey through the Catechism leads readers to the truth, beauty, and goodness at the heart of the Catholic faith.
