Winner of a 2025 CMA Book Award from the Catholic Media Association: Religious Book Series (Honorable Mention).

Born to Do This is a thirty-day personal retreat inspired by the courage and faith of St. Joan of Arc. Six centuries after her birth and one hundred years after her canonization, the Maid of Orléans continues to captivate believers as a model of conviction, obedience, and unwavering trust in God.

In this devotional, readers will encounter St. Joan through her own words and the stories of her life, gaining inspiration to live with courage and purpose in the face of life’s challenges. Designed for busy people, the book provides morning and evening reflections, drawn from Joan’s trial transcripts and historical records, along with opportunities to read, reflect, and pray each day.

Inside, readers will find:

  • A brief introduction to St. Joan’s life and the world she lived in

  • A timeline of key events and a map of important places from her story

  • Thirty days of reflections and prayers inspired by her words and witness

  • A special novena for those seeking her intercession

Born to Do This shows how St. Joan’s courageous faith—her ability to hear God’s call, endure suffering, and persevere in hope—remains timeless. Her example continues to inspire all who face adversity, especially those seeking strength in their faith and clarity in their vocation.

Part of Ave Maria Press’s Great Spiritual Teachers series, this book offers a simple, structured way to deepen prayer and devotion through the example of one of Christianity’s most heroic women.
