Padre Pio

Padre Pio was born in Italy in 1887 and became a priest and confessor. (“Padre” means “Father” in Italian.) He heard millions of confessions during his lifetime and was known for his gifts of healing and insight into people’s hearts. Padre Pio filled souls with peace and helped many grow closer to God. By encouraging prayer and frequent confession, he led countless people back to faith and the Church. He is the patron saint of confessors, celebrated on September 23.
