St. Bridget of Sweden was a mystic and author born in 1303 at Uppland. One of the six patron saints of Europe, she married at the early age of thirteen and bore eight children, one of whom was later canonized as St. Catherine of Sweden. She was a distinctly noble and charitable woman, earning her a wide level of popularity, and also maintained good religious influence over her husband, Ulf Gudmarsson. Bridget later founded the Order of the Holy Savior, and also experienced visions of Mary and the Christ Child. She died on the twenty-third of July, 1373, after having written various prayers and popularizing the well-known Fifteen Prayers of the Lord's wounds. St. Bridget was canonized by Pope Boniface IX in 1391.

Revelations of St. Bridget

For this little booklet about the size of a hand and the thickness of several napkins, it certainly punches above its weight. These few excerpts from from the much larger work bearing the same name tells several key moments in the life of Our Blessed Lord and His Blessed Mother and is told from either The Savior himself or from The Blessed Virgin. Moments such as the Immaculate Conception, The Passion, The Death and The Ascension of Our Lady are retold through their perspective and pretty much match with the Gospels. Also included are multiple (15) prayers that show the true nature of our existence and verifies the truth of the Catholic Faith. But, undoubtedly the most impressive feature of this booklet, are the words and the language itself. I never knew words to be so colorful and beautiful, yet be painful and harsh, all whilst speaking the truth. So impressive was the language that I was moved to near tears, and as I read I felt as though I was there on Calvary watching Our Lord offer himself up, for our sake. That is the real treasure in this here book and it holds true whether it is Our Lady or The King of Kings himself or humble St. Bridget's prayers, it is the must have for any Catholic as it not only reaffirms the Faith, but it hopefully it fills one with more love and ardor for the Son of God. 5 stars and I wish I could give it more.
