Foreword by Father Chad Ripperger

First published in 1921, Fr. Prummer's Handbook of Moral Theology was immediately regarded as an international classic. The author's clarity of vision, precision of expression, and humble fidelity to the traditional Catholic moral framework during a period of social upheaval and increasing doctrinal deviation made his manual the standard reference text for generations of clergy, seminarians, and laity. For those seeking answers to moral questions, the Catholic advice was often "Look it up in Prummer!"

At long last, this centenary edition restores the superb English translation of 1956 in a fresh new typesetting, making Fr. Prummer's original text much easier to navigate and more pleasant to read. The many citation errors that plagued earlier editions have been painstakingly corrected, and scores of additional citations have been added from Aquinas's Summa Theologiae, Denzinger's Enchiridion, and the Roman Catechism.

Fantastic Resource

I am very excited to use this book as the years go on. As a seminarian, it has already proven to be indispensable for my studies. I would (and have) recommend it to any Catholic, especially parents. Of course, Tumblar House knocked it out of the park again with the shipping. It arrived in good condition and quite quickly (However, batteries are not included, and sorry, no CODs).

Refine your Moral Theology

It's hard to overstate how excellently this book treats the topic of moral theology. It goes through various states of mind, circumstances of moral acts, topics of canon law, and moral matters themselves with great clarity and precision. Fr. Chad Ripperger highly recommends this book, and the clarity and precision of his own sermons probably owe much to Fr. Dominic Prümmer.
