Padre Pio from the Perspective of Americans

God has pitied the United States for having so few saints by providing saints from other countries who love the USA. I feel like Padre Pio is one of these saints. Perhaps, Padre Pio feels a certain gratitude for this country providing the work his father undertook to help him through seminary. Whether soldiers and airmen in WWII or pious Catholics, Padre Pio was always very gracious towards Americans who came to visit him. He was also very fond of American beer. (The monks had one bottle per diem.)

This book contains the stories of many Americans about Padre Pio and is well worth reading for that reason alone.
