St. Louis de Montfort:

Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort (31 January 1673 - 28 April 1716) was a French Roman Catholic priest and Confessor. He was known in his time as a preacher and was made a missionary apostolic by Pope Clement XI. As well as preaching, Montfort found time to write a number of books which went on to become classic Catholic titles and influenced several popes. Montfort is known for his particular devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and the practice of praying the Rosary. Montfort is considered as one of the early writers in the field of Mariology. His most notable works regarding Marian devotions are contained in The Secret of Mary and the True Devotion to Mary. The Roman Catholic Church, under the pontificate of Pope Pius XII canonized Montfort on July 20, 1947.

THE Book on Marian Devotion

I should've read this book a long time ago. It certainly lived up to its reputation as THE book on Mary by THE greatest Marian saint. The book is very thorough and has plenty of insights on the role of Mary, and how we can practice devotions to her. De Montfort says that God purposefully hid Mary from the world for a long long time time, largely because He didn't want people to confuse her as a deity. Humility is one of Mary's defining qualities, although it is so often overlooked. After reading the book, I realize that we have certain special advantages related to Mary that early Christians did not, for example, the Rosary. And we need to take advantage of the special graces that are available to us through Mary. We surely will need them to combat the new challenges of modern times.

Excellent book

This will help anyone grow in their love for Mary and Jesus. I started to read the book one evening and could not put it down. Mary is such a role model for both men and women. She is needed in our lives!

Ad Iesum per Mariam

As many saints have said - and St. Louis de Montfort demonstrates - Our Lady is the short and easy way to Our Lord. In Her we are molded to be like Christ. This book details the reasons for and the way to practice true devotion to Our Lady so that through Her we may attain eternal union with Him. One read is not enough; this is a spiritual work to read for a lifetime as it teaches a devotion to practice for a lifetime.

In addition to "True Devotion to Mary", this particular edition contains supplements to help the reader prepare for and make his total consecration to Jesus through Mary, pray the Little Crown, pray the Rosary according to St. Louis de Montfort's method, and learn about the Confraternity of Mary Queen of All Hearts. It's more than worth the price of admission.

All Thine!

This is, dare I say it, other than the Holy Bible, The greatest work ever written. Since the Bible was written by the Holy Ghost, this is the greatest human accomplishment in writing ever achieved. Read this book, do the consecration, and let Mary do the rest!
Ave Maria.

A true spiritual classic

So much has been said about "True devotion to Mary" that there could practically be volumes written about the great many spiritual fruits that such a work has produced in countless Catholics since it's conception. Truly, I could not say something that has not already been said in its praise, however, I can reaffirm one thing for certain: That St. Louis De Montfort has gifted us with the finest book on Marian Devotion ever written. From the front cover to the back, not a single word will be found wasted or irrelevant; each word leads us closer to our blessed mother, whom in turn, brings us closer to Christ our Lord. True Devotion to Mary belongs on the shelf of every Catholic, and of course, to learn how to properly conscecrate oneself to our lady is one of the best steps in which one can take in the pursuit of holiness.

This book helps me discover my vocation.

St Louis de Montfort helped me discover that I am called to be consecrated to Mary as a Single lay person or as a Brother or priest. Whatever state your called to call upon Mary! This book is the best way to do so!!!

I bought this as a gift for a friend, who gratefully received it. I have also read it myself. I strongly endorse this book, which is available unsigned by the author.

Just finished

We bought this book from a seller years back before we knew about Tumblar House, but still, I had to review it because it is that good. I just completed it. I have done Louis's 33 days before and wish I had read this first. It is so very good. Read the main text before doing 33 day preparation if you have time. But if you don't have time, just jump into the consecration prep at the end. Don't delay! Also contains tips for the rosary.
