A Great Fable as old as Time

The book that would start it all, the second book of the Chronicles of Narnia series The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis. The story is that of four children who venture into a wardrobe and discover a whole new world. They face trials and tribulations, and team up with the son of the Emperor-beyond-the-sea to take down the White Witch. Through a great cast of characters, no moment in this adventure feels dull. As even the author takes time between pages to talk to his readers to better show the scene they read. Not only does it read well, but C.S. Lewis writes within the story, that of the Gospel. The symbolism, themes, and motifs all point to the cornerstone of the Christian Faith: Christ himself. Along with the faith the story is not at all difficult for young audiences to grasp and will find it well worth their time to enjoy it. It truly is a wonderous fable that all children should read and enjoy. 5 stars and great for all ages.

Deserving of Acclaim

This book is greatly acclaimed, and deservingly so. Not many children's books- at least those of a reading level accessible to young children-- both teach and delight as well as this one does. It is allegorical of the Gospel narrative; however, even if one is unaware of this, the book could stand its own. I've read it both as a child and as an adult. The eight year old son of one of my friends recently finished it and was thrilled by it. (Granted, his reading level is higher than most.)
