Joan Carroll Cruz was a native of New Orleans and was the educational product of the School Sisters of Notre Dame. She attended grade school, high school and college under their tutelage. Mrs. Cruz was a tertiary in the Discalced Carmelite Secular Order (Third Order) since 1968; for eight years she served as Mistress of Formation (Novice Mistress). For her non-fiction books, Joan Carroll Cruz depended heavily on information received from foreign shrines, churches, convents and monasteries.
Excellent little prayer book. I got this initially so that I could pray the Chaplet of Saint Michael without having to read the prayers on my phone, but the book is absolutely full of wonderful prayers and devotions that I had never even heard of. The Golden Arrow and the Aspiration to the Holy Face in particular are becoming a part of my daily prayer life. As I mentioned I often used to pray using my phone, but that can be intensely distracting. Prayers and Heavenly Promises is the perfect antidote to that distraction. A must own.
This prayer book is 130 pages and easy to carry in a shirt pocket. Joann Carroll Cruz collected prayers and notes their benefits, namely indulgences. What is included are the great prayers of our Faith with notes regarding the origin and heavenly promises. While here on earth, it is a great prayer book to guide us to a great eternal reward.
