Stories about Purgatory
Publisher: TAN Books
Publication Date: 2005-08-01
The book starts by confirming the existence of Purgatory -- something that has been debated for centuries. We are then introduced to its melancholic beauty: the souls ensnared there enduring long and excruciating pain, need nothing more than our prayers and sacrifices to help them on their journey beyond.
Stories about Purgatory also asks readers to reflect on ways we can strive mightily to avoid purgation. With inspiring written accounts from those who have made their journeys through or have already been released from purgation, we come to understand how we can prevent ourselves from having similar experiences in the future.
This book helps implant a healthy respect for the sufferings endured by those in purgation which will linger throughout our daily lives. Not only does Stories about Purgatory serve as an educational resource, it instills within us conviction that a rich reward awaits us at the end if only we stay faithful along the way!
Was very good. Couldn’t put it down.
I read this book one November, and it completely changed the way I look at that particularly graced time for ministering to the Poor Souls in Purgatory. It is broken into 30 chapters, corresponding to each day of November, and shares practical wisdom about the theology of purgatory, along with stories of encounters with Holy Souls or saints who had devotion to the Holy Souls, and ends each chapter with something concrete to pray or offer for their relief. I highly recommend it to all!
