Under the Gaze of God
Publication Date: November 29, 2020
Before being published as a small book, these "counsels of perfection" and spiritual notes by Blessed Edward Poppe (1890-1924), a Belgian priest whose cause for canonization is underway, had been transcribed a hundred times by hand by those who had tasted their flavor, vigor, and supernatural wisdom. Fresh and luminous, this little book has been a tremendous success in Dutch, French, Italian, and German; it now appears at last in English. Responding well to the needs of the faithful, it will become an inseparable vademecum for all those who wish to live "under the gaze of God."
"What a gift this little book by Bl. Edward Poppe has been to me! I love it, and feel like I have found a father and brother in Christ in this good and holy priest." —Fr Cassian di Rocco
"I have put many a quote from this excellent priest in my parish bulletin. The faithful will often say in response, 'Where can I get that book?' Thanks be to God; it is now available. It will be a great blessing to any who read it." —Fr. James Jackson, FSSP
This is a great little book filled with the holy thoughts of Blessed Fr. Edward Poppe. One really feels Bl. Poppe’s desire for holiness as one reads it. Certain lines are well worth meditating on, and I hope that it inspires Catholics to greater love for God and neighbor. Hopefully, we will one day see Fr. Edward Poppe canonized so that he can be celebrated at every altar in the Universal Church as one of God’s Friends and as a truly heroic soul.
These small tidbits of inspiration are packed with fodder for meditation. Beautiful conduit for grace!
